Cutting Edge Site Protection
EyeSite Surveillance rolls out EyeOn Plus in-house monitoring services, taking construction site safety to the next level
In-house monitoring is just the latest innovative solution to come from EyeSite Surveillance, Inc., an Arizona- and Texas-based mobile site security company founded 15 years ago with a vision of bringing cutting-edge technology to protecting construction sites and other vulnerable areas.
In 2005, the founders of EyeSite Surveillance came up with a revolutionary idea that would upend the construction site surveillance industry. The plan was to replace the traditional security guard and dummy camera approach with virtual technologies, effectively and affordably keeping customers’ sites safe from criminal activities.
Co-owners Dean Olson, Dave Gratton and Jason Gratton developed a business model built firmly around customer service. EyeSite Surveillance has since realized that vision…and then some. The firm prides itself on a deep understanding of the dynamic environment of a construction site. A four-prong approach provides customers with multiple layers of site security leading to enhanced crime reduction, including deterrence, detection, assessment and apprehension.
Keeping Sites Safe
To date, the team has secured over 3,000 job sites, is nationally recognized for assisting in the arrests and apprehensions of over 800 criminals, and keeps watch over $5 billion in assets a year.
One of numerous success stories involves EyeSite Surveillance’s hand in securing sites in the City of Mesa. According to Co-owner and Vice President Dean Olson, the company has been instrumental in the city’s efforts to reduce crime. He says, “They have reported a 90% drop in 911 calls in areas where our equipment has been installed. There have been a number of incidents where our equipment was able to assist the municipality to rapidly react to serious crimes and use the high-resolution video to aid in the prosecution of violent criminals.”
Among the many protective services EyeSite Surveillance provides are solar-powered mobile surveillance units; short range radar systems; industry-leading 3D video analytics; perimeter detection systems with thermal imaging; high-resolution license plate cameras; remote access pan-tilt zoom cameras; and U.S.-based, 24/7 active live monitoring and police dispatch.
EyeOn Plus Monitoring Services
Now, with the introduction this past summer of EyeOn Plus Monitoring Services, this crime fighting team has upped the surveillance game even further by bringing its monitoring services 100% in-house.
Jason Gratton, CEO and co-owner, explains the incredible benefit this brings to customers. He says, “We have outsourced monitoring for the past 10 years, but it’s always been the weak point of the business, in my opinion, because you can never count on a third party to get the performance level we need and expect. The nature of what we do in construction is quite difficult, and we’re a fairly demanding company on our monitoring stations.”
Part of the challenge is that construction sites are such dynamic environments with so many different aspects in a constant state of flux. Jason says, “Not only is there a building going up in the middle of the site, but the sight lines are changing, the equipment layout is changing, the location of Conex containers, the laydown yards…it’s always changing, and all that has to be tracked and updated with your monitoring station if you want to get good results.”
He continues, “A traditional, permanently installed security system doesn’t have those requirements, so monitoring companies aren’t equipped to deal with that level of constant maintenance and update. We decided that we were going to take that on, and we spent a year researching what it would take to build a state-of-the-art, world-class monitoring station. We now have that in place.”
Beyond the equipment, Jason gives credit to the people behind the service. He remarks, “We’ve got just an incredible team. We’re so thrilled to have the people in place that we do—including former police officers and military personnel. We really feel that we now have the flexibility and the focus and the diligence to get it done better than anybody could ever do it from a third-party standpoint.”
Commitment to the Cause
Dean agrees, concluding, “Everyone at EyeSite Surveillance, and now EyeOn Plus Monitoring Services, is committed to bringing you the best state-of-the-art security system and combining it with amazing customer service to help you save money and time.”
