Artie Gold has the competition beat when it comes to gift giving. In 2012, Artie told his wife, Shawn, what he was doing for Mother’s Day. Not flowers, not chocolate, not jewelry. He was going to purchase a pressure washing franchise for the couple to run together.

Having been looking for just the right opportunity, the entrepreneurial husband-and-wife team talked it over and knew that between Artie’s background in facilities and maintenance, and Shawn’s prior experience in sales, marketing and purchasing, it was the right move.

Artie shares, “We wanted to be our own boss, have scheduling flexibility, strive for financial freedom and enjoy the challenges of building a stellar team. There’s no better feeling of satisfaction and accomplishment than to get a thank you letter or phone call from a customer who is ecstatic about the result of our service. On a whim and with a strong trust in each other, we used our 401(k) retirement savings to put up the funds for the bank loan.”

The Golds purchased the Sparkle Wash Fox Valley franchise in August 2013 and never looked back, growing the business 26% from 2014-2019.

Some recent high-profile commercial jobs include the Grande Cheese Company’s corporate headquarters in Fond du Lac and Red Lion Hotel Paper Valley in Appleton. The fully insured company takes great care to work with municipalities to obtain proper permits and signage, including adherence to the state Department of Natural Resources (DNR) permit requirements for wash water. Shawn adds, “We have industrial equipment, high standards of customer service, and a focus on scheduling and on-time completion. Everyone’s time is valuable. We’ll be there when we say we will be. Plus, we’re not afraid to try something new or at least investigate the opportunity to add to our portfolio of services.”

It is obvious to customers and peers alike that Shawn and Artie are doing something right.
